Team Alex

As you know already I have lots and lots and lots of nail polish.  I don't care what brand I buy from low-end to high-end.  I need to stop but I'm such an addict.  I have so much that my storage plastic bins are crying telling me please no more I can't handle it anymore. Lol! :P

I also have 2 Melmers that are 3 drawers each.  I stacked them to look like a Helmer and they are full.  Melmer is not the correct name for them, it's the name the nailboard call them since it's not a Helmer from Ikea.  Melmers are from Michael's Craft Store. (I really don't know the correct name for them. )  I was thinking about buying more Melmers, but don't want to buy 10 of them. Lol!  Most of the ladies on  Makeupally/nailboard have Helmers.  For some reason they just don't appeal to me maybe because it's metal and looks like an old file cabinet.

Edit:  Here is blogger AllThingsNails picture of the Melmer located on the right side:  The correct name is Jetmax...click here

A  nailboarder VVV showed her pictures of the Alex from Ikea. (Thanks VVV)  She showed side by side pictures of the Helmer and the Alex.( Her post is here.)   I was sold on the Alex because it's tall and holds way more polish then the Melmer and Helmer .  I told my daughter-in-law about the Alex and she had my son go and get her one.  She called me over to her house and when I stepped in the room I screamed, literally! Lol!  So, I must get one, or two maybe three :D  It's really sturdy just like a nice piece of furniture.  I don't think it's real wood but it's solid.

Yesterday, nailboarder KonadTheBarbarian was making buttons for Team Helmer, so I asked for Team Alex! Lol! Here is my button. It's now at the bottom of my right side bar. Thanks Ktb :D

How do you store your nail polish stash, Plastic Shoe boxes, Plastic Sterlites, Melmers, Helmers or the Alex?  Please share.

  1. I have two Helmers and Two Alex's. I got the Alex's because I was tired of how unsturdy the Helmers were when they got full. I have one of the tall Alex's and one of the short ones. I can post pics if you want!

  2. jbrobeck: How do you like the short Alex? Not all bottles can fit am I right? Yes, I would love to see your pics :)

  3. I do like the short Alex, even though you can only fit polish in the bottom three drawers. I kinda got it by accident, my husband asked my mom to go to IKEA and pick one up for my birthday, and she got the wrong one. BUT you can fit a alot of polish in the lower drawers. All of my China Glaze are FINALLY in one place - I have around 110 and there is still room in the drawers. I use the more shallow drawers for makeup. You could also use it for nail supplies =) I will try to get pics up on my blog today!

  4. jbrobeck: Okay, I can get the shorter Alex to store my High-end, HTF's and my nail supplies. Go Team Alex!! Lol! Okay, I'll be waiting on your pictures :)

  5. Thanks so much for sharing this! I haven't been on MUA in a few days - it's amazing what you miss when you're away. ♥♥♥ how VVV broke down the specs w/ bottle sizes and amounts per drawer. Right now this is how I store my polish: http://allthingsnails.blogspot.com/2010/08/my-jetmax-mani-station-aka-melmer.html

This pic was taken about 10 months ago and since then my collection has exploded!!! So I might be joining Team Alex before you know it. I have an additional Melmer 3-drawer Melmer cube ready to be assembled but I'm certain this won't do it. I'll keep you "posted"! :)

  6. A plastic box and some wicker baskets and on my desk and under my desk and other small boxes. I don't get hung up on organisation.

  7. LOL! spoken like a true nail polish or makeup junkie! right now, my "stash" is stored in a big round wicker basket--not the most efficient way of storing but its what i have for now. i have the same problem with my makeup stash. i need a third bedroom--it would be my makeup/nail studio! blessingss

  8. AllThingsNails: Hey sis, I'm glad you mention your storage station. So that's the correct name for melmer. I'll edit my post and put in your link so everyone can see. Yay, again for Team Alex :)

jaljen: Lol! Mind is all over the place too. I have to get organization or I'll go crazy...I'm about crazy now :)

janel: Hey lady! Yes, I also have lots of makeup but I have 2 traincases that I keep them in and the top drawer of my melmer is full of makeup. I have a nailpolish/makeup room and it's packed. Lol! :)

  9. I'm jumping on the Team Alex bandwagon. Looks so much nicer than the Helmer. Will have to go to IKEA next weekend and pick one up. Then bake hubby a cake so he can assemble it. Haha.

  10. Beata: Yes, another Alex lover! I like the idea for baking hubby a cake. Lol! Everyone will be happy :)

  12. Melmers right now. Got 3 of 'em. Need a 4th as soon as Micheal's put up a 50% off coupon.

  13. kittypolishnbags: That's what I like about the Melmer you can get them on sale :)

  14. I am team Alex also...but right now I store all my polishes in a melmer, which is full, and then I have two boxes I am storing the overflow in. I was thinking about getting a helmer but once I saw the pics of the Alex I was sold!

  15. Dandy112: Hey girlie! Glad you jumped on the Alex team bandwagon :)

  16. Right now my polishes are all in decorative hatboxes. Pretty to look at but a royal pain in the hind end. And I am constantly afraid that my polishes are going to break right through the bottom of their boxes.n I am careful to support the bottoms, but even so...

I am now officially lusting after an Alex. I wouldn't mind having a couple, for either side of my dressing table. They would be wonderful for polish, makeup, skin care products, hair products and so forth.

Anyone want to pull a bank job with me? We can split the proceeds and go buy Alex cabinets. :D ^^

  17. Alex is huge <3! So far I've stored my polishes and nail supplies in my Ikea high cabinet: I bought a set of three basket/drawers instead of lower shelves and was storing them by color, but the green/blue section is already full and I had to move the greens to a plastic box. Not to count the cardboard "untried" box I keep on the bottom, that is reaching n. 100.
I'd love to have an Alex but I should bake more than a cake to my hubby first (he doesn't understand my polishmania) :-P !

  18. Awesome, I'm totally leaning towards team Alex, but I just do not like white furniture..LOL I'll wait, maybe they will start making it in colors soon :)

  19. I've wanted one of those 9-drawer Alex's since I first saw them too... But I need to purge, not get more storage!!

  20. Thanks for the clarification about the Helmer vs Melmer storage. Right now, my nailpolish storage is divided btwn 2 drawers in my plastic tower of drawers & 2 dollar store plastic shoe boxes. I would love to upgrade to the clear acrylic looking shoe boxes from the container store. Thanks for sharing Sis. :O)
